Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Montr ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not use the App.

Description of Service

Montr is a display control application for macOS that allows users to:

  • Control brightness for built-in and external displays
  • Adjust color temperature (Night Shift)
  • Create and switch between display profiles
  • Set up automatic profile activation triggers
  • Use keyboard shortcuts for common actions
  • Control contrast on supported displays

System Requirements

Montr requires:

  • macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
  • Location permission (optional, for sunrise/sunset calculation)
  • Accessibility permission (optional, for keyboard shortcuts)

Note on DDC/CI Support: Hardware brightness control requires external monitors that support DDC/CI. Not all monitors support this feature. Montr provides software brightness fallback for unsupported displays.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App without authorization
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Rent, lease, or lend the App to third parties

Free Software

Montr is provided free of charge. There are no subscription fees, in-app purchases, or hidden costs. Donations to support development are appreciated but entirely optional.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other means. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

On Quit Behavior

By default, when Montr quits, it restores your display settings to their pre-Montr state. This ensures no permanent changes are made to your displays if you uninstall the app. This behavior can be configured in settings.

Termination

You may stop using Montr at any time by uninstalling the App. Uninstalling will remove all local data stored by the App.

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the App.
